A Very Sticky Problem – Chewing Gum on Manchester’s Streets

by | Aug 3, 2017 | News and Events

Chewing gum is a plague on our pavements that costs the UK and Wales over £60 million a year to remove. One of the places that we visit every four months, is Market Street in Manchester – a very busy area with high footfall.

The area covers over 8,000 m2 and gets subjected to lots of abuse, from dirt and litter to smatterings of chewing gum all over the cobblestones. Being a busy retail area, this level of grime is difficult to avoid and needs constant attention.

Every few months we remove the chewing gum and clean the area by using 100 degree steam. We avoid the use of harsh chemicals, making the environment safer for everyone while protecting the planet.

Our regular maintenance work keeps Manchester’s Market Street clean and presentable and makes the setting nicer for everyone. We’re sure you’d agree.
