With the Christmas rush as busy as ever in 2017, we’re proud to have completed another important project at the heart of Birmingham’s travel and retail sector.
The Grand Central Ramp at Birmingham New Street has a huge daily footfall and with customers passing in and out of the various shops and food outlets available, it forms one of the busiest walkways in the city centre. Because of the vast number of shoppers and commuters who use the ramp there is a high level of dirt and grime accumulated, including the steady build-up of discarded chewing gum.
As part of our continuing partnership with Retail Birmingham, we were contracted to perform an extensive deep clean of the area, making sure that the ramp looked at its very best ahead of the peak Christmas shopping period.
In order to minimise any effect on the public we performed all works overnight, with the project completed with the use of high temperature (100 degree) steam pressure, ensuring that the surfaces across the Grand Central Ramp were cleansed of the large amounts of ingrained dirt and staining, and that the significant build-up of hardened chewing gum was cleared.
As with all large-scale projects undertaken by Ramora, our experienced team used state-of-the-art technology for this project, utilising high-pressured steam generating equipment that assures that even the most stubborn staining can be removed and the natural colour of surfacing can be restored.
This project comes as part of a long-term relationship with the team at Retail BID Birmingham, who support the development of a world-class retail offering in the second city and create new opportunities for leisure, evening economy and cultural businesses to thrive.
They work in partnership with Birmingham City Council and trusted contractors such as Ramora to oversee the maintenance and management of the city centre.
