With the Christmas period approaching, Birmingham City Centre will be extremely busy with shoppers, tourists and of course, the Christmas party season. With the popular Birmingham ‘Frankfurt Christmas Market’ taking place from the 17th November to the 29th December, masses of people will flock in each night, resulting in an extremely high footfall throughout the city centre, especially as people spread out in the directions of Birmingham’s many popular night spots.
We have just completed a cleansing programme for Colmore BID to deep clean the pavements in the area ready for the Christmas period. Not only will the restored pavements be much more attractive to people visiting Colmore Row and surrounding streets, but they will also be prepared for the increased footfall that is expected.
Using our high performance steam cleaning technology, we tackled a number of streets in the Colmore BID area:
Temple Row
Temple Row West
Colmore Row
Church Street
Newhall Street
Edmunds Street
Cornwall Street
Bull Street
As you can see from the images, utilising our imported pressure steam generating equipment we were able to make a considerable difference in the paving stones. By using the right temperature and pressure, we were able to blast away the heavily built up dirt, grime and chewing gum, returning the pavements to their original sandy colour as opposed to a greyish brown. We pride ourselves on using no chemicals in our cleaning processes, just steam, so there are no COSHH issues or environmental implications when we carry out street cleaning and chewing gum removal.
As the areas that we cleaned are home to many businesses and pedestrians each day, we ensured that all work was carried out with as little disruption as possible. Using our high performance equipment, we are able to clean as much as 500 square metres per shift, ensuring that work is carried out as fast as possible. We always pre-leaflet nearby occupiers prior to our street cleaning services and can immediately follow up with window cleaning services for affected retailers in the area.
