We’re very proud to be playing a key role in keeping one of the West Midland’s most prominent retail areas fresh and clean.
New Street is a famous thoroughfare in the heart of Birmingham City Central, linking together the modernised Bullring Shopping Centre, historic Victoria Square and the recently redeveloped transport and retail complex at Birmingham New Street Station that includes Grand Central.
Over a five year period, more than £750m has been spent on the infrastructure and development of the station and surrounding areas, with the New Street retail district welcoming millions of shoppers to Birmingham each year.
The high level of footfall means the area requires regular concentrated cleaning to be performed, with particular emphasis on removing chewing gum. So with the busy Christmas period ahead, Ramora recently teamed up with Retail Birmingham to perform an extensive street cleansing project of the area, including chewing gum removal, on New Street and the ramp to Grand Central.
As always, our experienced operators used cutting edge technology for this project, with high-pressured steam generating equipment used to leave block paving, slabs and concrete surfaces in the area looking as good as new.
This project was performed with high temperature (100 degree) steam pressure, ensuring that the surfaces across New Street were cleaned of all ingrained dirt and that chewing gum and other stains were properly removed. As with all open air projects, we performed these works with the greatest care, causing minimal inconvenience to retailers and consumers.
It is our policy not to use any chemicals in our steam cleaning process whenever possible, avoiding health and safety or environmental implications when we deep clean retail areas.
